I think I love more than anything the dark side of Gaga. The fact that she can make herself dirty, messy, ugly even and still look beautiful and in control. She is inspiring.

Simply put – very clever – a great change from all the videos you see now of bimbos dancing and doing nothing – love it when a video tells a story. Love all the various looks.

what’s up with the modonna like crying at the end?

I think it is one of the most innovative music videos in years. Artists just do not put this much thought and effort into music videos. What I love about GaGa is that she has brought back the anticipation for the format. Remember the thrill of collectively watching the premiere of Michael Jackson’s “Black or White” as a nation? Back in the day, when Madonna or Janet Jackson or Michael Jackson released a new video it was an EVENT.

First off, this seems more like a performance art piece – like Matthew Barney’s “Cremaster Cycle.” She is creating a mythology and I hope that it continues to evolve. The opening reminded me of the introduction to David Lynch’s “Dune.” The opening shot of GaGa, with a face mounted on the back of her wig, the camera moving down to reveal her face, complete with otherworldy alien eyes, gave me the “whoa / wow” factor right away and let me know that I was in store for something truly unique.

I thought it was also interesting that she used the triangle not only as a symbol for the Gay Rights movement, but also as good vs. evil. If you notice in the opening shot, it pointed downward, whereas in the end, the tip of the triangle is pointed skyward. Also, the triangles are transformed into a pentagram, when the “Evil” figure is “rotating…” You’ll notice that the two triangles are turning to form a pentagram…I’m sure there will be an explosion of illuminati theories tomorrow morning – and GaGa will love them. In fact, I think she is playing up the whole “is she a satanist / Lucifer?” the same way she teased us with whether or not she had a penis.

If the manifesto wasn’t enough already, the “Evil” figures in tuxedos are to die for. I fell in love with the music video the moment GaGa started dancing and whipping that pink ponytail around. Finally, an understated costume for the next Monster Ball! And by the way, how badass is Rick Genest? That’s not make-up folks, his entire body is covered with skeletal / spider tattoos.

I love it – this was high art in my opinion. “Bad Romance” is still my absolute favorite, because it was the moment GaGa broke away from the Hello Kitty pop princess and turned into a more intellectual artist (or surrounded herself with them – whatever.) I would not be surprised if the video is considered a bomb, just due to her young audience base who might easily get creeped out or not understand the symbolism.

I can’t wait to see how she will top this! The bar has definitely been raised!

God I love this video it’s just so… I don’t know I’m at a lost for words right now, so many things going through my head about this video and Gaga. I’ll have to get back to this another day, just too much for me to think about right now.
