#DANCEDOWN Houston: Richard Jackson Spills the TEA on Gaga

Posted on 1st May, 2013 in Exclusive, Miscellaneous

Our friend, Emil had the opportunity to attended Richard Jackson’s (Gaga’s choreographer) Dance Down class in Houston a couple weeks back, and sent us the details about the class and little bit of what went on during the Q&A session afterwards. Check it out:

When the class started, Richy gave a little pep talk, followed by the chorus choreography to “Telephone” with Asiel and Montana. After that, we spent about two hours learning a 1.5 min routine to a “Judas/Schieße”. It was hard as hell, even just watching them go through it had me out of breath.

Afterwards, Richy spoke about Gaga’s journey for about 10 minutes. One of the stories he told was how when Gaga first showed up to rehearsals in 2008, he laughed at her and told her the industry was going to have a real problem with her (in a good way!).

Finally, the dancers sat us down and opened the floor up to questions. Some boring questions were asked at first, but things got interesting when somebody asked Richy and the dancers if they had heard ARTPOP, or if they had started choreographing and working with Gaga at all. Richy smiled and said they had been working on a few things, but that it was secret and we would find out “sooner than you think.”

Richard swiftly moved onto the next question, which was if he was still friends with Laurieann Gibson, or Boomkack, as we’ve all grown to know her as. The entire room, including Richy and the dancers, laughed and he finally said that we all probably knew the answer to that already.

Richy also mentioned that the Born This Way Ball is about Gaga’s life before The Fame. We asked if that meant ARTPOP was her first album and he smiled and proceeded to the next question. We knew he wasn’t able to talk much about ARTPOP, so we asked him about the video of Gaga allegedly tearing her hip while performing “Scheiße” in Montreal, the week the tour was postponed and eventually canceled. He explained that over time, muscles don’t cooperate the way we want them to and that’s what happened with Gaga. He said that fans were saying that she tore her hip in that performance, but that wasn’t the case at all. He said as the tour progressed, the existing injury got worse and she was in a lot of pain, which forced Gaga to cancel “everything.”

After the open floor questions ended, everybody else took photos, while I spoke to Montana and Asiel about if they have normal lives until Gaga decides to call them up to fly out and work on ARTPOP. They simply looked at each other and smiled.

“Next question!”

Richard Jackson’s Dance Down has two more stops left: one in Washington, D.C. on June 1st and the final date in Seattle on May 4th. Ticket and registration info can be found at richysquirrel.com/tour.

The Born This Way Ball and My Meeting With Gaga

Posted on 7th February, 2013 in Exclusive, News Articles

When I first saw photos and videos of the Born This Way Ball, I admit I was originally put off by the whole look and overall feel of the show. I was very critical. Wrongly so, considering I hadn’t truly experienced it for myself. But that all changed on February 6, 2013, when Lady Gaga played a sold-out show at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. It’s truly something else when you’re standing with 400 other screaming super fans in the Monster Pit, who are dancing in circles as Gaga plows through “Americano,” a performance worthy of its own telenovela.

This show is a different kind of beast compared to The Monster Ball. The fans at the Born This Way Ball are a new breed, as opposed to the fans you’d see at a Gaga concert 3 years ago. The sense of unity and joy is amazing and Gaga is giving everything she can and her fans giving everything back to fuel what she is right down to her core: an artist. This isn’t just a show; this is who she is. Gaga sported a lime green glow-in-the-dark wig for the show and said that it’s one of many things she plans to do that takes the Ball to another level as the tour comes to a close in the next few weeks.

As the set started to wind down after witnessing a giant vagina birth Gaga and her dancers, Gaga floating across a foggy stage, and Gaga as a motorcycle, her dancers rolled out a large piano covered in what looked to be the spiked balls from a one-handed flail. Gaga got candid with us and let us know that she was feeling down about her late grandfather as she lead into a vey emotional rendition of “The Edge of Glory” in place of “The Queen.”

35 minutes and seven songs later, Gaga defeated Mother G.O.A.T. and finished off the main set with “Scheiße.” By song’s end, I was trying to pick myself up off the floor and compose myself, so I could make my way towards the left side of the pit, to go backstage and meet Lady Gaga. As other fans and I waited, we got to see Gaga give her encore performance of “Marry the Night,” which she performed mostly in a stripped-down arrangement, up until the very end, when the track exploded into an underground, New York City-esque club and the fans on-stage and off broke into choreography from the music video. Now it was time to go backstage. Read More…

Exclusive 2009 Glastonbury Festival Audio Outtakes

Posted on 26th July, 2012 in Exclusive

“On July the 26th, Friday 2009, all the kids came out to Glastonbury and they shot the Paparazzi!” – Lady Gaga at Glastonbury, June 26, 2009.

Even though this performance took place June 26, 2009 and not on July 26, as Gaga mentions during the show, we at PropaGaga.com wanted to celebrate Lady Gaga’s very first festival gig by releasing two exclusive audio outtakes from the broadcast. The show, originally aired on BBC Three in 2009, was cut short, due to a revealing top Gaga wore during “Beautiful, Dirty, Rich” and “The Fame”.

We hope you enjoy these two exclusive tracks and we hope to continue sharing more exclusives with you in the future! Read More…

Product Review: Heartbeats V2

Posted on 13th July, 2011 in Exclusive, News Articles

Guest contributor and PropaGaga reader, Jonathan Ayaz, sent us an exclusive review of the new Heartbeats V2 which hit stores this week. Check it out below, along with some exclusive pictures!

The latest headphones from Lady GaGa have finally arrived, and let me just say these are far better than the original! They now fit much better (as much as I loved the old design, they did not stay in very well) and are also much more powerful. The older pair was made of mostly plastic, and these are made of metal, which gives them a better feel and performance.

I tried out almost every bud size, and I stuck with the 3 ringed buds (same ones pictured). These ones guarantee that they will stay put. I first played “Hard” by Rihanna (was the last thing I played on my iPhone), and they handled the bass and loud guitar sounds very nicely! I then played Born This Way from “Marry the Night” up until “Judas,” and each song sounded absolutely incredible. Might I add that they stayed in throughout all of my dancing, which of course comes with playing Born This Way on full blast. Basically what you should get out of this review is go buy the Heartbeats 2.0 by Lady GaGa. Right now.
