Britney Spears on Lady Gaga: “She Understands the Craft of Being an Entertainer”

Posted on 18th September, 2011 in Miscellaneous

It seems like everybody is weighing in on Lady Gaga this week. During some recent promo in the UK, Britney Spears spoke about working with Lady Gaga for Britney’s VMA tribute last month. Check out what she said below:

“She’s hilarious. She was so into character, and really strong willed. The way she portrayed herself, she exuded such confidence and uniqueness in her character — it was really crazy and fun. [...] She comes from the theater, so she gets the background of not just coming out with a good song, which a lot of people do, but she understands the craft of being an entertainer. I think that’s why she appeals to so many people because they love to see what she’s going to do next and it’s so interesting, even for me, to watch her. She’s a character, she’s really cool.”

When asked about a possible collaboration, Britney replied with a cool “Maybe so”. Check out the video after the jump. Read More…

Annie Lennox Responds to Jo Calderone Controversy

Posted on 14th September, 2011 in Miscellaneous

In a recent chat with Stylist.co.uk, Annie Lennox responds to the incessant allegations that Lady Gaga copied her by performing as Jo Calderone during the 2011 Video Music Awards last month. Check out what she had to say below:

Gaga makes incredible art. She’s exceptional. The parallel was obvious, but whether she was copying me or somebody else doesn’t make any difference. Women have been wearing men’s clothes for centuries. It’s a powerful thing when a woman wears something less feminine. It’s saying; you must look at me slightly differently, I’m not just going to be a sexual object for you. The only thing with Gaga is, she doesn’t move me. I see a lot of commerce in people’s lives; a lot of drive and ambition, but what I often feel is lacking is emotion.

It’s no secret that Annie is a fan of Gaga. She’s praised her her before on her blog, claiming that she was “totally entranced” by the singer, and that she is “the real deal”.

Lady Gaga, Bono and Usher to Play Clinton Foundation Concert

Posted on 13th September, 2011 in Charity, Miscellaneous

Lady Gaga, Bono and Usher will pay tribute to the work of the Bill Clinton Foundation in a one-night concert at the Hollywood Bowl in October, the organization and Yahoo said on Tuesday.

Other “socially responsible artists” in music, film and television also will take part in the event, which is aimed at celebrating 10 years of the former U.S. president’s foundation and raising awareness of its work on issues such as AIDS and the environment.

The October 15 “A Decade of Difference” concert will be broadcast live exclusively on Yahoo with all proceeds going to the Clinton Foundation, organizers said.

“I am proud that some of today’s most influential performers are coming together to raise awareness about the work of my foundation,” Clinton said in a statement.

He said the commitments to the Clinton Global Initiative over the past 10 years had helped to improve the lives of 300 million people around the world.

Additional performers are yet to be announced. Tickets for the concert go on general sale on September 19.
