Lady gaga goes shopping in Columbus

Posted on 12th March, 2011 in News Articles

Maybe it was the fab food or the funky shops, but Lady Gaga chose to hang out in the Hub an extra day after her sold-out show at the Garden instead of making her way to the Midwest. And really who could blame her?
The uber pop tart, who rocked the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio, last night, stayed behind in Boston to shop on Newbury Street for vintage duds and slurp oysters at closing time at Jasper White’s Summer Shack.

Gaga, traveling with her pack of bodyguards, slipped out of the Mandarin Oriental late yesterday and spent a Monster-ous amount of cash on vintage clothes and boots at Rick Walker’s, which she proclaimed “the coolest store ever.”

“She said she and her boyfriend are all about cowboy boots and American-type clothes,” Rachel Walsh Walker told the Track.

Who knew? We thought she was more into the ovum and raw meat. But Rachel reported Gaga’s alter ego, Stefani Germanotta, picked up some vintage French gray leather pants, a black leather jacket, a shagadelic pair of ’70s London pink boots and two vintage rock T-shirts — Rod Stewart and AC/DC.

“She was really great,” said Rick Walker’s wife. “What a peanut.”

Later in the evening, Gaga’s gang ordered up two dozen oysters, crabs, oyster shooters, tons of veggies, and, for the Lady: a 3-pound lobster!

The staff was not only in awe of Gag’s appetite, but one reported that she was wearing a black leotard that showed every bit of her, ah, pop princess posterior. Wait a minute, didn’t she buy a pair of pants just hours before?

Lady Gaga ends exclusive partnership with Target

Posted on 9th March, 2011 in News Articles

EW.com – Lady Gaga has ended her special promotional deal with Target one month after announcing it, seemingly in response to concerns that the retail giant donates significant amounts of money to aggressively anti-gay political candidates.

In an emailed statement to EW, Gaga’s publicist simply stated, “Lady Gaga and Target came to a mutual decision to end their overall exclusive partnership a few weeks ago.”

When Gaga initially agreed to the deal with Target this February—in which her upcoming Born This Way would be released as a special edition featuring three additional songs and five remixes—she talked about what she called the corporation’s “past mistakes,” but said her relationship with the retailer was contingent on them “affiliating themselves with LGBT charity groups” in the future as well as “making up for” past contributions to anti-gay-marriage candidates.

It seems that the reality of selling an album whose title track is a gay empowerment anthem at a store whose Political Action Committee contributed three quarters of its 2010 spending to anti-gay rights politicians became too contentious for Gaga and Target. Even though Target’s CEO apologized to outraged employees in an internal memo, the corporation’s donations to anti-gay rights candidates never stopped, as the Awl comprehensively detailed.
